Dear Business Leader,
I am writing to ask for
your helpful participation in a quick
survey for the State of Maryland in conjunction
with an important initiative with the
National Governors Association (NGA).
The State of Maryland was recently selected
to be one of six states engaged in a NGA
initiative through its Policy Academy
on Promoting Innovative Clusters and Regional
Economies.
The NGA initiative is designed
to help us identify and assess regional
assets and issues, to generate consensus
behind a plan to upgrade the quality of
the state’s business environment,
to boost the competitiveness of our companies,
and ultimately, to raise the prosperity
of our citizens. This survey will provide
us with critical information as we further
develop Maryland’s economic and
technology strategy.
In support of these goals,
the survey is designed to:
Assess and benchmark the
current competitiveness of Maryland’s
business environment;
Identify important strengths, weaknesses,
challenges, and opportunities for the
state in comparison to other regions;
and,
Prioritize issues for future attention
and investments.
Survey participation from key business
and community leaders is vital to the
success of this initiative. I would ask
you to click on the survey at the weblink
below and please take ten minutes to fill
it out. In addition to taking the survey
yourself, please also forward this email
to a few senior individuals in your organization
who could also complete the survey. All
respondent names and data will be kept
confidential.
The NGA is working with
the Monitor Group, an international strategy
advisory services firm with extensive
expertise in regional competitiveness,
to undertake this survey. If you have
any questions please contact either Kurt
Dassel at the Monitor Group via phone
(617) 252-2741 or email at Kurt_Dassel@Monitor.com,
or Ben Wu, Senior Advisor for Technology
Policy at the Maryland Department of Business
and Economic Development via phone at
(410) 767-6799 or email at BenWu@choosemaryland.org.
Thank you in advance for
your input in this important initiative.
Sincerely yours,

Martin O’Malley
